Maintaining health and wellbeing in later life

Notice Description

Age UK's service is targeted at lonely and/or isolated older people across South Gloucestershire, to ensure rural and urban loneliness and isolation is addressed. This will be achieved through the following activities and services: * Provide volunteering opportunities for adults of all ages * Enable older people to 'Love Later Life' through active volunteering opportunities, to aid development of new social contacts, improve confidence, become and remain active and widen their community involvement * Build strong local neighbourhoods * Provide Dementia Friends training to all new volunteers and make that resource available to other organisations and community groups * Befriending services (face-to-face and by telephone for those on the waiting list of those who prefer not to be visited) This project will bring together opportunities to improve social isolation, improve employability, increase community involvement, increase levels of activity and improve people's financial situation.
