Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) seeking to acquire a pair of eye tracking glasses as part of their initiative to explore the applications of eye tracking technology in various services. This procurement falls under the industry category of computer hardware acceptance testing consultancy services and has been completed. The procurement method used was a direct approach via a single tender action below the threshold. The tender period ended on 12th February 2021, and the contract commenced on 13th April 2021, concluding on 28th February 2022. The total contract value is £10,096.

This tender presents significant opportunities for suppliers specializing in innovative technology, particularly those who can deliver specialized goods like eye tracking devices. Businesses that are well-suited to compete include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in advanced optical technologies or hardware development. This procurement not only allows for market participation but also positions successful bidders to potentially engage further with DVSA for future projects as insights from the tender could lead to more formal engagements if the technology is validated in practical use.

Notice Title

Eye tracking glasses (Immersive exploration 2)

Notice Description

The requirement is for one pair of eye tracking glasses. These will allow the Policy team to explore how eye tracking technology may help DVSA services in a variety of use cases. The market was researched and variety of products were compared but only 2 suppliers were capable of delivering against the requirement and the price point. DVSA purchased 1 of each set of glasses from each supplier because: * there are some differences which mean we could cover the wide variety of potential use cases we are trying to showcase in DVSA * different suppliers will potentially expose more feature and understanding for future requirements * different suppliers will help us to remain agnostic and open to other future suppliers should work become more formal The other pair of glasses were purchased from another supplier but the purchase was under PS10k, hence there is no details of that on the Contracts Finder.
