Notice Title

(NU/1702) Fault Protection Initial Study into DC Hybrid Circuit Breakers for High Power Electrical Networks

Notice Description

A study into the various configurations of DC Fault Protection (FP) is required. This study would investigate different configurations while using criteria such as mass, speed of action etc. and define the most appropriate architecture options. To properly assess the FP devices a model of the electrical network will be developed, then the range of FP devices would be introduced, and their electrical functionality assessed over a range of criteria. A study to investigate how the FP devices scale to a range of suitable power levels will also beneficial. The study would also estimate the mass and volume of the FP devices. The work can be split into three sub work packages: * WP SC1.1 Trade Study on the most appropriate architecture options for the DC Fault Protection (FP) * WP SC1.2 Simulink style model of a DC Fault Protection Device * WP SC1.3 Scaling study of DC Fault Protection Devices
