Notice Title

Circular Dichroism Spectrometer - AWARD

Notice Description

The University of Southampton are tendering for a Circular Dichroism (CD) spectrometer to be placed within a multi-user environment in the School of Chemistry. The primary function of the instrument will be the analysis of chiral interlocked molecules and their response to small chiral analytes as part of a European Research Council Consolidator Grant awarded to Dr Stephen Goldup. Capacity permitting during the ERC CoG award, and once the period of the grant has ended, the instrument will also be made available to other researchers in Chemistry and the wider University whose interests include protein secondary and tertiary conformation studies, protein folding studies, nucleic acid interactions, characterization of chemistry products and evaluation of binding and conformation of proteins, peptides and nucleic acids. The University of Southampton is a large and multidisciplinary institution. Due to the breadth of anticipated applications over the lifetime of the instrument, and the multi-user environment we require a user-friendly, sensitive, accurate, reliable and flexible CD spectrometer, with the possibility to upgrade and expand functionality in the future.
