Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is planning to establish a Framework for the supply of metals for use in Public Sector Prison Industry workshops across various regions in the United Kingdom. This tender, classified under "Mining, basic metals and related products", will be open for a duration of four years, beginning on 1st May 2018 and concluding on 31st December 2021. The total estimated value of the contract is £4.4 million, with a minimum spend of £2.8 million. The procurement is currently at the planning stage, with a future notice date set for 27th September 2017, and the framework will be divided into five lots covering various metal specifications including non-ferrous materials and structural items.

This opportunity is well-suited for businesses specialising in the supply of metals, particularly SMEs that can demonstrate compliance with quality and legal standards. Companies that deliver cost-effective and target-driven solutions will find an ideal platform to grow their presence in the public sector. Given the diverse regional delivery requirements, suppliers with the capacity to service multiple regions in the UK, such as the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the East Midlands, will be particularly advantageous in competing for this contract.
