Notice Title
Soft Market Test - Orientation and Support Service for Resettled Refugees
Notice Description
Further to Herefordshire's initial commitment to the Syrian Vulnerable Person Resettlement Scheme (SVPRS) that saw 60 refugees resettle in Hereford between November 2016 and June 2017, a further commitment to resettle refugees has been made. This additional commitment will see Herefordshire welcome refugees from the SVPRS and / or the Vulnerable Childrens Resettlement Scheme (VCRS). Both the SVPRS and VCRS are government funded programmes established to provide a route for the most vulnerable refugees to come to the UK. The resettled refugees are given five years' refugee status, with permission to work and access public funds. Herefordshire Council has agreed to accept up to a further 35 refugees, which is likely to equate to approximately 8-10 households. They will generally be in family groups, but could also include a small number of vulnerable single people or couples. An orientation and support service will be provided for the initial 12 months of resettlement. Herefordshire Council are conducting a Soft Market Test to consider the service requirements.
