Community Forest Project

Notice Description

The NECF (North East Community Forest) covers Newcastle, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside, Sunderland and the more urban areas of County Durham. The Community Forest programme in England has been running for 30 years. Forming a network across England, the Forests work in diverse areas with low tree and woodland cover and where social, economic and environmental issues can be tackled through community forestry. They aim to regenerate areas, creating high quality environments by revitalising derelict land, providing new opportunities for recreation, education, enhancing biodiversity, responding to climate change and supporting healthy living and economic development. The newly formed NECF is a 30-year, multi-million pound project that will see tens of thousands of trees planted in the region. It is supported by a partnership of local authorities, combined authorities, charities and other organisations. The contract opportunity is available on our E-Tendering website the NEPO Portal at www.nepoportal.org
