Summary of the contracting process

The Warrington Borough Council is currently managing a public procurement process for the "Provision of a Remote Backup Service for Schools". This initiative falls under the industry category of Computer back-up services, with a total contract value of £80,000. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the tender period for submissions will close on 21 December 2017. The service aims to provide a secure, automated backup solution for school data to ensure compliance with government regulations. The contract is set to commence on 1 February 2018 and will run until 31 March 2019, covering multiple delivery addresses across the United Kingdom and beyond.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in data storage and backup services. Companies that offer automated, secure data management solutions, particularly those with experience serving educational institutions, would be well-positioned to compete. With the requirement for compliance with government legislation, firms that can demonstrate robust security practices and previous successful implementations in similar contexts will likely have an advantage in securing this contract.

Notice Title

Provision of a Remote Backup Service for Schools

Notice Description

Warrington Borough Council's ICT Service for Schools requires a fully automated, secure, remote backup and recovery service to protect Warrington's schools data, storing it off-site daily to comply with government legislation. The service shall backup and restore schools administration and curriculum data, and data held in the latest supported versions of Capita SIMS and FMS systems. It is the Council's intention for all schools who receive the current remote backup service for schools to migrate and transition to the service. However, the Council does not guarantee that all schools will participate or that participating schools will take up the service for the duration of the contract. The Council will look to select the Provider offering the best value service based on price and the response to the specification available to those Providers who register and express an interest on the Chest (www.the-chest.org.uk). To ensure that everything is logged and audited, only correspondence, questions and clarifications raised in the Chest will be addressed by the Council. The Council will not respond to any e-mails, letters or telephone calls regarding this opportunity.
