Summary of the contracting process

The Department for International Development is planning a procurement process titled "Wash," aimed at supporting a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) results programme. This initiative falls under the industry category of foreign economic aid-related services and targets locations including British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, and the United Kingdom, amongst others. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a total budget of £11 million allocated for the period from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018. A future notice concerning this tender is expected to be published on 14th April 2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those engaged in delivering water and sanitation services, as well as hygiene programme initiatives in developing regions. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, allowing them to extend their service offerings and contribute to the UK Government's goals of improving access to water and sanitation for up to 9.8 million people in low-income countries. Companies that specialise in WASH-related projects and have experience working in international development contexts would be well-suited to compete for this contract.
