Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education (DfE) is currently in the planning stage for the Turing Scheme Year 6 Assessment Service, a procurement process aimed at developing an assessment service for the 6th year of the Turing Scheme in the academic year 2026/27. The initiative is seeking early engagement from potential suppliers, with a deadline for engagement set for 22 August 2025. The procurement falls under the industry category of "Miscellaneous business-related services" and covers multiple locations including the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories, and beyond. The DfE intends to progress to an Invitation to Tender (ITT) around mid to late October 2025 using the Crown Commercial Service's Fund Administration and Disbursement Services Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), and potential suppliers need to register through the e-sourcing system Jaggaer.

This procurement offers a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), to expand their offerings by participating in the assessment service for the Turing Scheme. Companies with expertise in business-related services and capacity to handle up to 1,000 applications within a six-week window could greatly benefit by demonstrating their capabilities. Organisations with a robust system for managing assessment accuracy and discrepancies will be well suited to compete for this contract, which not only promises to enhance their portfolio but also provides a platform to influence the development of a national education initiative.
