Summary of the contracting process

Birmingham City Council has announced a market engagement exercise titled "Recycling Wheeled Bins and Food Waste Containers Market Engagement Exercise" under the Waste and Rubbish Containers and Bins industry category. This procurement exercise aims to transform waste services in Birmingham and includes various initiatives such as fortnightly residual waste collections and weekly food waste collection services. The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, with the engagement end date set for 8th August 2024. The procurement process will be conducted via further competition from the ESPO framework 860 _22, with suppliers having the option to bid for single or multiple lots. Interested suppliers must register via the Council's e-tendering system, In-Tend, to participate.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the manufacture and supply of waste and recycling containers. SMEs and VCSEs are particularly encouraged to engage, given their suitability for the project. By participating, businesses can potentially secure contracts to supply wheeled plastic bins and food waste containers, which will be crucial elements in Birmingham's revamped waste management strategy. Suppliers that can offer innovative solutions for multiple occupancy dwellings and efficient recycling routes are well-suited to compete in this tender.
