Crossover Post-custody Youth Resettlement Programme
Notice Description
Through the Crossover Programme, the Ministry of Justice will pilot a new form of personal support for children leaving custody to improve their resettlement outcomes (e.g. access to accommodation, education, training, employment and mental health support) and reduce reoffending in the long term. It will also inform long-term policy development. Funding for this pilot programme will be provided through a competed grant worth PS2.3m in total. Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations will receive funding to employ 'resettlement linkworkers' who will provide intensive one-to-one support to children, starting in custody and continuing into the community. help children achieve improvement in education, training and employment, health, and potentially sustained reductions in reoffending; broker support and help advocate for children once they are back in their community, including helping to resolve interpersonal issues, arranging referrals/ appointments early on and accompanying the child to appointments; test how VCS workers can work together effectively with statutory practitioners to deliver improved outcomes; complement the work of YOT workers and Resettlement Practitioners.
