Summary of the contracting process

The Eiffage Kier Joint Venture (EKFB) is currently seeking tenders for the supply of labour and equipment required for the construction of Robust Kerbs using a slipform method within a precast cut and cover tunnel environment. This project, located in the South East of the United Kingdom, specifically involves constructing 24km of Robust Kerbs running along three twin-bore tunnels, with an anticipated contract start date of 30 April 2021 and a completion date of 30 September 2024. The tender is classified under the industry category of concrete and related works, and the submission deadline for expressions of interest is 8 February 2021. Further details can be found on the EKFB e-Sourcing platform Market Dojo, which will use a balanced scorecard approach for procurement.

This opportunity is ideal for businesses in the construction sector, particularly those specialising in concrete works, reinforced structures, and environmental monitoring for construction. Companies equipped to handle substantial projects with the necessary resources—such as skilled labour, appropriate machinery, and materials—will find this tender particularly suitable. Given the project's scale and complexity, it presents a potential avenue for business growth, especially for subcontractors experienced in similar civil engineering projects within the infrastructure domain.

Notice Title

Supply of Labour and Equipment for Construction of Robust Kerbs - Via Slipform Method

Notice Description

EKFB is seeking to appoint a subcontractor for the supply of labour and equipment for the construction of Robust Kerbs via slipform methods within a precast cut and cover tunnel environment. The Robust Kerbs consist in densely reinforced concrete walls that run along the tunnels at both sides of the tracks, and will be heavily reinforced by a steel cage which will be supplied and installed by others. The sub-contractor will be required to construct the Robust Kerbs and to supply the corresponding resources to do so, including labour, plant and equipment and some materials (such as ducts and pipes). It is important to mention that the reinforcement will be supplied and installed by others and that the concrete will be supplied by EKFB from on- site batching plants, but it will be transported to the subcontract works location by the sub-contractor. There are 3 No twin-bore Tunnels, each one accommodating 4 No of the Robust Kerbs. The total overall length of the tunnels is 6km, hence there are 24km of Robust Kerbs to slipform. The height of the Robust Kerbs is 1535mm.
