Summary of the contracting process

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has issued a tender for the Purchase of a Nanoparticle Flow Cytometer. The tender falls under the industry category of Installation services of laboratory equipment and laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. The procurement stage is currently active, with a tender period ending on 20th May 2024 and a contract period starting on 8th July 2024 and ending on 6th July 2029. The total value of the contract is £200,000, with the procurement method being an open procedure above the threshold.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses in the laboratory equipment sector to compete for supplying a highly specialised piece of equipment. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can provide sensitive nanoparticle detection instrumentation may find this tender particularly suitable. The emphasis is on the technical capabilities of the equipment rather than its commercial value. The location of the procurement is in the United Kingdom, and interested parties can register and apply through the Atamis e-sourcing portal by the specified deadline.

Notice Title

Purchase of a Nanoparticle Flow Cytometer

Notice Description

The Agency is looking for a nanoparticle flow cytometer capable of detecting biological particles such as extracellular vesicles, lipid nanoparticles, viruses and other biological nanoparticles when fluorescently labelled or not. The Technical requirements for purchase of nanoparticle flow cytometer will heavily rely on ability of the instrumentation to deliver high level sensitivity for submicron particles. The equipment in question will be supporting many high-profile projects across the Agency, including adequate sizing and quantification of viral particles, viruses, secretome vesicles, phage, and NLPs. Therefore, it is important to put maximal emphasis on the Scientific and Technical ability (65% of overall marking) of the equipment to deliver very sensitive readouts rather than the Commercial value of this project.
