Summary of the contracting process

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is planning to procure a research and evaluation partner for the Long Covid Rehabilitation Programme, with a total budget of £140,000 (GBP) available from July 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023. This initiative aims to evaluate the rehabilitation programme's effectiveness in assisting individuals affected by Long Covid, particularly in areas like Brough, Pocklington, and Goole East. The procurement method is direct, employing a single tender action below the threshold, and interested parties should note that the next communication about this opportunity is anticipated on April 11, 2022.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for academic institutions and research organisations specialising in health and social work services. Companies that can provide expertise in evaluating rehabilitation programmes and addressing long-term health conditions should consider competing for this contract. The focus on understanding the impact of physical activity and behaviour change on recovery from Long Covid further underscores the potential for organisations with innovative research methodologies to contribute valuable insights to this timely initiative.

Notice Title

Long Covid Rehabilitation Programme Research & Evaluation Partner

Notice Description

In 2020, the East Riding of Yorkshire population was estimated at 343,201. Over a fifth of this population has been confirmed to have had Covid-19. Our local intelligence team have been identifying the worst hit areas across the East Riding of Yorkshire. As of January 2022, Brough, Pocklington, Goole East, Hessle, Anlaby and Molescroft are our most impacted areas. We require an academic evaluation partner to work alongside our delivers to evaluate all elements our Long Covid recovery programme. This is required as there is limited research regarding Long Covid, and the effect physical activity has on people with the condition. We are very keen to learn which elements of the rehabilitation programme are of most benefit physically, mentally and socially in order to understand the new needs for our residents and to prevent additional burden on our primary care partners where possible. This learning will also allow us to have a greater understanding of similar long-term conditions and the impact person led, self-managed activity has on behaviour change and the physical impact on a person's health. This is a novel and large undertaking which will require experts to deliver this project at pace.
