A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge) Archaeological Works
Notice Description
The Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites World Heritage Site is recognised as a heritage asset of national and international importance. Highways England wants to ensure that archaeological remains are preserved and recorded, in advance of Scheme construction, by commissioning appropriate archaeological expertise. Archaeological services are required to deliver protection and preservation measures as well as excavate, record and disseminate the results of the archaeological mitigation works including Public Archaeology and Community Engagement. Highways England wishes appoint a supplier to provide archaeological mitigation works for the proposed A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge) Improvement Scheme. The works will be split into three Sections: 1. Pre-commencement documentation; 2. Site Works; and 3. Processing, Laboratory Work, Reporting and Dissemination, as well as Archaeological Monitoring and Recording This is a large and complex project, which will require critical capabilities and resource from a balanced and diverse supply chain partner. Collaboration is at the heart of the relationships necessary to delivery at the pace required. The length of the contract is 8 years with the possibility to extend by 1 year. Additional information: This notice is issued solely for the purpose of making the market aware of this opportunity and does not constitute any commitment by Highways England to undertake any public procurement exercise. Interested parties will not be prejudiced by any response or failure to respond to this notice. Nor shall a response to this notice guarantee an invitation to participate in any future procurement process that Highways England may conduct. This notice does not constitute a call for competition to procure any works or services.Highways England is not bound to accept any proposals offered. Highways England is not liable for any costs, fees or expenses incurred by any party responding to this notice or any party who may participate in any future procurement process. In the event that Highways England decides to proceed with any procurement, it is currently assumed that such procurement will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 unless any legal requirement requires a different procedure to be adopted. Interested parties should note that this notice is separate to a notice advising the market of an Archaeology Framework opportunity and should be treated as a different potential opportunity. Highways England intends to use an e-Sourcing portal (Bravo) to communicate and undertake the procurement for these requirements.
