Notice Description

The Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites World Heritage Site is recognised as a heritage asset of national and international importance. Highways England wants to ensure that archaeological remains are preserved and recorded, in advance of Scheme construction, by commissioning appropriate archaeological expertise. Archaeological services are required to deliver protection and preservation measures as well as excavate, record and disseminate the results of the archaeological mitigation works including Public Archaeology and Community Engagement. Highways England wishes appoint a supplier to provide archaeological mitigation works for the proposed A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge) Improvement Scheme. The works will be split into three Sections: 1. Pre-commencement documentation; 2. Site Works; and 3. Processing, Laboratory Work, Reporting and Dissemination, as well as Archaeological Monitoring and Recording This is a large and complex project, which will require critical capabilities and resource from a balanced and diverse supply chain partner. Collaboration is at the heart of the relationships necessary to delivery at the pace required. The length of the contract is 8 years with the possibility to extend by 1 year. Additional information: This notice is issued solely for the purpose of making the market aware of this opportunity and does not constitute any commitment by Highways England to undertake any public procurement exercise. Interested parties will not be prejudiced by any response or failure to respond to this notice. Highways England intends to use an e-Sourcing portal (Bravo) to communicate and undertake the procurement for these requirements.
