Summary of the contracting process

The Department of Health and Social Care is conducting a public procurement for the supply of Hydrocortisone Injection, specifically for hydrocortisone sodium succinate 100mg powder for solution for injection vials. This tender falls under the pharmaceutical products category and is essential for meeting urgent healthcare needs. The procurement method is an open procedure, accelerated due to the urgency created by the Covid-19 outbreak. Key dates include a tender deadline of 29 December 2020 and a contract period starting on 15 February 2021, concluding on 30 June 2021. The total estimated value of this procurement is £500,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly those focused on the production and distribution of injectable medicines. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the capacity to fulfil large volume orders, such as the approximately 450,000 vials required, would be especially well-suited to compete. Given the accelerated nature of the procurement process, businesses should act swiftly to position themselves for potential growth through this contract.
