Summary of the contracting process

The NHS South West Commissioning Support is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for "Translation and Interpretation Services" covering the South East, specifically focusing on Dorset, Hampshire, Farnham, and the Isle of Wight. The contract is expected to last for two years, commencing on 1st April 2020, with an option to extend for another two years. A provider engagement event has been scheduled for 26th July in Dorchester and 29th July in Southampton, with interested parties required to register by 12pm on 19th July 2019 to attend. This exercise aims to gather information without committing to any contract awards or obligations for future procurement.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), to engage in the provision of essential healthcare-related translation and interpretation services for various medical sectors, including GP, Dental, Optometry, and Pharmacy. Businesses that possess expertise in language services and have experience working within healthcare frameworks would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The mini-competition format used for the procurement process under the Crown Commercial Services Framework RM1092 allows firms to showcase their capabilities directly to NHS England South East (Wessex).
