Summary of the contracting process

Durham County Council is conducting a public procurement process titled "Panel of Providers for Alternative Education Provision", aimed at establishing a provider panel for alternative education placements for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schooling. The procurement is classified under training services and secondary education services, with a total contract value of £2,400,000. The tender was published on 6th September 2019, and the tender period concluded on 18th October 2019. The resulting contract is set to commence on 2nd January 2020 and will run until 1st January 2022, with delivery locations required to be in or near County Durham, United Kingdom.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in educational services, particularly those providing alternative education solutions. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, especially those that can deliver personalised educational support for disaffected students. With a flexible panel structure, a variety of providers can join, enabling a diverse range of educational services and approaches. This not only supports local educational needs but also allows businesses to expand their outreach and services within the North East region.
