Notice Description

Notice Summary Early engagement Notice in order to test the market and obtain expressions of interest in the balustrade enclosure works to the Beacon of Light School. The scheme will be procured and delivered as part of the DfE's Free School programme and procured via a design and build route. Works involve infill above balustrade to further secure and enclose balcony spaces through a combination of glazing and mesh. The contractor would also be responsible for all surveys, statutory compliance, including but not limited to Building Control and Fire regulations. integration with existing systems, staff training as appropriate and health & safety/CDM matters. Description The project is to enhance the safety of users within the Beacon of Light School and wider Beacon of Light Centre. Balustrade level corridors and "bridges" are to be enclosed via mesh or glazing depending on location to provide a safe and secure environment, preventing objects being dropped over the balconies to floors below or children climbing on the balustrade. The works comprise, but are not limited to: Surveys as required to safely and compliantly complete works Phasing and logistics, accounting for work in a live school and public environment Mesh and glazed infill above balustrade Fire alarm alterations to suit Heating and ventilation alterations to suit Making good ceilings & floor finishes Any associated ductwork alterations Provision of welfare facilities Removal of all waste materials from site Health & safety measures and regulatory compliance Procurement Process Following the successful completion of the Early Engagement Notice and expressions of interest being received it is anticipated that the tender process itself will then commence on 24/11/2021. Interested contractors should express an interest to those listed in the contact details section, with a deadline for this being 17.00 on 12/11/2021. From ITT issue there will then be a 3-week tender and evaluation period before a selected contractor is chosen. The successful contractor will be notified and appointed under a Minor Works contract. It is then anticipated the works will commence in 04/07/2022 and complete by 15/07/2022. The maximum anticipated cost of all the works is PS145,000.
