Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the Community Ophthalmology Services is currently in the planning stage, led by the South of England Procurement Centre. The contract will focus on health services and is located in the South East region of the United Kingdom. The anticipated value of this service is approximately £300,000 annually. Interested parties must submit their responses by 12:00 midday on 16th October 2019, as this request for information (RFI) is aimed at gathering market feedback to inform future commissioning decisions.

This tender presents significant opportunities for healthcare providers, particularly those specialising in ophthalmology and related services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that can demonstrate innovative approaches to service delivery may find this an ideal opportunity to engage with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups. Businesses capable of providing services such as cataract management, minor eye condition treatments, and child vision screening would be particularly well-suited to participate in the upcoming contracting process.

The anticipated value of the Service is PS300,000.00 per annum. Please complete your response and return via our eTendering Portal, reference: Community Ophthalmology Services - NHS/SOEPS/19.511 RFI by 12:00 Midday on Wednesday 16th October 2019. Provision of Community Ophthalmology Services Aims & Objectives NHS Eastbourne Hailsham & Seaford (EHS) and NHS Hastings & Rother (HR) Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are reviewing their commissioning models for existing Community Ophthalmology Services. Currently these services are delivered through Single Provider Contracts with Primary Eye Care Providers and through various Locally Commissioned Services. In addition the CCGs are working collaboratively with our local acute trust, East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT) to develop additional Ophthalmology community pathways, to help release capacity in the already overwhelmed Hospital Eye care Services (HES) and to better utilise the existing workforce in the hospital and primary care setting. Having a number of varying arrangements with multiple providers may not be the most efficient delivery model for certain services, therefore we would be interested to discover the market options available to us, with the potential to successfully deliver these services and, to gather your views on the most effective structure to achieve optimum service delivery and value for money. The CCGs wish to invite feedback to this Request for Information to inform the service provision options accessible to the CCGs in East Sussex for the provision of Community Optometry Services such as: 1. Cataract direct referral and cataract post-op* 2. Intra-Ocular Pressure refinement* 3. Minor Eye Conditions Services* 4. Child Vision Screening- in development 5.
