Summary of the contracting process

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has recently completed a public procurement process for the central procurement of Vitamin D food supplements, specifically designed for vulnerable groups, through an accelerated open procedure. This procurement was initiated to ensure that critically important vitamin D supplements are available as we move into the winter months. The contract, valued at £524,400, commenced on 6th January 2021 and will run until 31st March 2021. The tender period concluded on 15th December 2020, and the delivery address is located within the United Kingdom, specifically in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the supply of health-related goods, particularly those experienced in the vitamins and dietary supplement sector. Companies that can provide high-quality Vitamin D supplements in large quantities will be well-positioned to compete, particularly if they can meet the tender requirements for speed and efficiency. Given the urgency and social importance of this procurement, it represents a valuable opportunity for businesses looking to expand their reach in the health and wellness marketplace.

Notice Title

Central procurement of Vitamin D food supplements-CEV

Notice Description

DHSC is undertaking a procurement process using the open accelerated procedure for the purpose of procuring vitamin D food supplements for CEV individuals. This procurement will concern the supply of Vitamin D food supplements. Vitamin D is needed for healthy bones and muscles and during autumn and winter, everyone is advised to take a vitamin D supplement of 10 micrograms. DHSC wishes to procure vitamin D for vulnerable population groups. This is because they may have been indoors more than usual this year and therefore it is even more important to take a vitamin D supplement as we go into the winter months to protect musculoskeletal health.
