Summary of the contracting process

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (Solihull MBC) is currently seeking bids for a Flexible Contracting Arrangement (FCA) to procure residential and nursing care home beds for older people, titled "SOL - Residential and Nursing Care Home Beds for Older People FCA." The procurement is classified under the health and social work services industry and is set in the West Midlands, UK. The tender is following an open procurement method due to exceedance of the threshold, with the tender period closing on 2nd August 2021. The contract will commence on 1st September 2021 and will span five years, with a total estimated value of £17.5 million, allowing for extensions of up to 48 months.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the health and social care sectors, particularly those focused on elderly welfare services, social work, and accommodation provisions. Companies that offer residential care, nursing services, or related social work services would be ideally suited to compete. Furthermore, the flexible nature of the FCA means that there may be ongoing opportunities for new entrants throughout the contract period, allowing different providers to participate in mini-competitions for block contracts, which can help further diversify and expand their business portfolios.
