Summary of the contracting process

The University of Nottingham is seeking contractors for the construction of the new Cripps Health Centre, aimed at enhancing primary health and dental care services for its student community and the wider public. This procurement process is currently at the tender stage, with a deadline for expressions of interest set for 13 February 2017. The project, classified under construction work in the works category, is based in Nottingham, United Kingdom, and is estimated to cost between £6 million and £7.5 million. The procurement method is a restricted procedure, allowing for selective tendering.

This project presents a significant opportunity for construction firms looking to expand their portfolio in the healthcare sector. Businesses with expertise in building healthcare facilities, particularly those that prioritise patient-friendly environments, would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, firms that can demonstrate capability in designing multifunctional spaces conducive to health services will find this tender particularly relevant, as the University aims for a facility that integrates well into its green campus surroundings.

Notice Title

New Cripps Health Centre; Contractor

Notice Description

The project will replace the existing Cripps Health Centre to provide a holistic approach to primary health and dental care for The University and wider community. This new facility will be realised with the means to; * Enhancing the student experience through the provision of accessible first class medical facilities * Reinforce The University's message regarding the importance of student wellbeing. The primary design ethos is to create a residential scale building that sits harmoniously in its rich green campus context. More akin to a pavilion in a park when compared to the usual interpretation of an urban health centre. The proposed architecture looks to nurture the relationship to Cripps Hall and, therefore, enhance the immediate landscape. The interior architectural language should seek to balance a highly efficient, plan with a non-institutional, patient-friendly environment inspired by domestic spaces. The GP consultation rooms and dental treatment suites avoid feeling too clinical whilst taking advantage of the rich landscape and natural light. The design of the building is a two storey building, with two linear wings off a centralised hub area. The GP accommodation is contained in both floors of the west wing, the ground floor of the east wing, and the west side of the connecting Wing. The dentists are located on the first floor of the east wing. The Pharmacy is located on the ground floor on the east. The whole centre is accessed through a single entrance which is a double height space, offering security and control. The pharmacy will have a separate access for out of hours use. All plant areas are located in the roof void space. The design areas for the spaces have been based on the current HTM / HBN recommendations and adapted to suit the user's requirements following user group engagements, to understand the use and operation of rooms. The anticipated build cost is expected to be between PS6,000,000 and PS7,500,000. The site is in the North of The University Park Campus within an area bounded by Beeston Lane, Lenton Hall, Redcourt, Patton House and Lenton Hall Drive.
