This procurement, categorised under medical equipment, followed a direct procurement method through a single tender action, being below the threshold limit. The award was published on 4th July 2022, with the contract period commencing on 22nd April 2022 and ending on the same day. The total awarded value amounts to £36,606.01.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in the supply of high-performance liquid chromatography equipment and related technologies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Companies that specialise in medical or laboratory equipment, particularly those with expertise in polymer analysis or chromatography systems, would find this procurement process particularly relevant. The compatibility of the new system with existing Agilent systems further opens avenues for businesses providing servicing or accessories tailored to such laboratory environments.

Notice Title

Agilent 1260 Infinity II GPC with MDS - RID and VWD

Notice Description

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is a type of high-performance liquid chromatography, that separates analytes on the basis of solvated size, typically in organic solvents (in our case, THF, CHCl3 and DMF). We exploit this technique to analyse polymers molecular weight and distribution. In the Howdle lab there are already two Agilent 1260 Infinity systems which are totally compatible in terms of hardware and software with the Agilent 1260 Infinity II system proposed in the new quote. The Agilent hardware components' design will allow us an easy "plug and play" opportunity for the use of the software already in installed without the need to acquire extra licences. Not only, it will facilitate any hardware components (detectors, pumps, etc.) relocation, among the different systems in case failure of one the old systems reducing costs in building new compatible GPC apparatuses. Alongside with the high compatibility of the new systems with the ones already in the laboratory, the use of the same system will maintain a high continuity in performance.
