Summary of the contracting process

The Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking to award a contract for Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) Software to align operations across multiple fire services in the Thames Valley, including Oxfordshire and Royal Berkshire. The tender is currently active and follows an open procurement method, with submissions due by 9th October 2017. The awarded contract, intended to last three years with a potential two-year extension, will start on 6th November 2017 and will ensure operational continuity, as existing contracts are set to expire in March 2018.

This tender presents significant opportunities for software and technology providers, particularly those specialising in operational software for emergency services. Businesses that focus on software development and integration, especially those experienced in public sector contracts, would be well-positioned to compete. With the collaboration of multiple fire services looking for a unified MDT solution, successful bidders will not only secure a contract with a reliable client but could also open doors for similar contracts across the region.
