Notice Title

Highway Sweeping of Roads within South Staffordshire

Notice Description

Contract for the undertaking of highway sweeping to ensure the visual amenity and road safety of the District's highways are maintained as required by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Additional information: The Council were informed our street sweeping contractor (Go Plant) had entered administration on Monday 6th May. This was sudden and unexpected for us and although the administrators had found a buyer for some of the business the Telford depot where we got our services from was not included. Therefore, we have been without street sweeping services since this date. Administrators guided us to contact Sweeptech who have acquired some of the Go Plant business as they have a national presence and in fact a depot in Telford. We met with Sweeptech who have agreed to take on our services on the same rates and terms as those we had with Go Plant. The Council originally tendered for the street sweeping services in October 2021. There were only 2 bidders for the contract, of which only Go Plant was suitable. As street sweeping is a statutory function it is urgent the Council appoint another contractor - therefore a Waiver was applied.
