Summary of the contracting process

Cambridgeshire County Council is currently in the planning stage of an open procurement process for Residential Services aimed at Adults with a Learning Disability. The tender, titled "Cambridgeshire County Council Residential Services for Adults with a Learning Disability," has a total value of £224 million and is classified under health and social work services. The framework is set to operate over a period of 10 years and will periodically re-open for new and previously unsuccessful providers to apply, with the tender period ending on 28 April 2028.

This opportunity presents significant prospects for businesses focused on health and social care services, particularly those that are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Companies that offer specialised training and support for adults with learning disabilities will be well-positioned to compete, as the council emphasises the importance of staff having appropriate skills to promote health and wellbeing for service users. Businesses willing to innovate in supportive residential care that aids independence will find this framework particularly relevant.

Notice Description

The next round of this framework has been delayed due to the Council's Covid-19 response. Cambridgeshire County Council is commissioning Residential Services for Adults with a Learning Disability, setting up an Open Framework for a period of 10 years. This means that the Framework will re-open at intervals to allow for new and previously unsuccessful providers to apply to join. Providers must recognise the role they play in ensuring that people with learning disabilities experience the good health and wellbeing necessary to live a meaningful life.
