Summary of the contracting process

The West Midlands Fire Service is initiating a public procurement process for a National Framework Agreement aimed at supplying Smoke Alarms and related equipment to Fire and Rescue Services across the UK. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with an estimated budget of £30 million, set to run from June 2021 to May 2025. The deadline for interested suppliers to express their interest is 31 August 2020, and the formal invitation to tender is slated for release in November 2020. This opportunity falls within the fire detection systems industry, primarily involving standalone and interconnected smoke detection devices.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in fire safety and detection equipment, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary and community sector enterprises (VCSEs). Companies that can supply the identified lots — including stand-alone devices like smoke alarms and heat alarms, as well as interconnected systems — would be particularly well-suited to compete. Successful bidders will not only enhance their market presence but also contribute to the safety and well-being of communities served by Fire and Rescue Authorities throughout the UK.
