Summary of the contracting process

The N E L Commissioning Support Unit is initiating a tender for a pilot Primary Care led Community Dermatology Service as part of its ongoing health service improvement efforts in the East of England. This procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a key engagement end date set for 17th August 2018 at 23:59. The service aims to provide evidence-based, patient-centred dermatological care that shifts treatment from secondary to primary care settings, reducing health inequalities while improving access and efficiency.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the healthcare sector, particularly those with experience in providing community health services or innovative IT solutions that can integrate with existing referral systems. Businesses capable of delivering high-quality, cost-effective healthcare solutions that align with the objectives of patient-centred care and can handle the operational complexities of managing referrals will be well-positioned to compete for this contract.

Notice Title

Primary Care led Community Dermatology Service pilot

Notice Description

NHS Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group wishes to invite expressions of interest to deliver a pilot Primary Care led Community Dermatology Service for all ages. This service will be evidence based, patient-centred, innovative and represent high quality value for money whilst also reducing inequalities in health and wellbeing. It is expected that this service will work closely with Primary Care in particular General Practice to develop a community GPwER (GP with extended role) led service provision. The community-based Dermatology service will operate on one stop shop principles and will incorporate activity currently carried out in secondary care. The pilot will need to evidence a shift of activity from secondary to primary care/community delivery. The service will require the IT capability to integrate with the Electronic Referrals system (e-RS) and deliver a timely and robust clinical referral management triage process to direct referrals to the most appropriate treatment pathway. Inappropriate referrals should be returned to the referrer with advice. The service will ensure patients are treated in primary care/community settings, avoiding the need for referral to acute hospitals where clinically appropriate. Only patients requiring highly specialised care will be referred on to secondary care as clinically appropriate. Please see Annex A for full description. Only those organisations which have demonstrated compliance with the requirements set out in the attachment and confirmed their interest with a satisfactory supporting statement not exceeding 2000 words and no later than 5.00pm on Friday 17th August 2018 will be invited to take part in the next stage of the tender/procurement process.
