Summary of the contracting process

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is currently in the planning stage of a public procurement process titled "Satellite Space Segment - RFI". This initiative is focused on satellite circuit rental services, specifically to assess the market's capability to provide news and events content contribution services. Key deadlines include an engagement end date of 20th August 2021. The procurement is set in London, England, and businesses can register interest through the BBC’s eTendering portal by following the instructions provided in the market engagement notice published on 23rd July 2021.

This tender provides an opportunity for businesses in the telecommunications and satellite services industry to align their offerings with the BBC’s strategic needs. Companies specialising in Ku Band and Ka Band satellite services, as well as terrestrial cellular and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite providers, would be well-suited to compete. As this is a request for information, businesses would benefit from engaging directly with the BBC to showcase their capabilities and potentially influence future procurement strategies, even though no contract obligation is guaranteed at this stage.
