Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit is seeking to procure a Low Vision Service for the four Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), specifically covering Lincolnshire South, South West Lincolnshire, West Lincolnshire, and East Lincolnshire. This initiative is currently in the planning stage, with an engagement end date set for 23rd February 2018. The procurement method involves a tender process, and the service falls under the health services category, specifically addressing various community-based eye care pathways as identified in the Department of Health's Commissioning Toolkit.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the healthcare and optometry sectors, particularly those specialising in community eye care services. Providers capable of delivering patient-centred care, high-quality and responsive services will be well-suited to compete. Companies that can demonstrate experience in managing referrals and care pathways within primary settings could find this tender particularly advantageous for business growth in the East Midlands region.

Notice Title

Low Vision Service for Lincolnshire CCG's

Notice Description

The four Lincolnshire CCG's, Lincolnshire South CCG, South West Lincolnshire CCG, West Lincolnshire CCG and East Lincolnshire CCG are looking to procure a low vision service to cover the four CCG localities. The Department of Health Commissioning Toolkit for Community Based Eye Care Services (2007) specifically identified several pathways that have the potential to be managed in primary care. These include glaucoma testing ophthalmology interface service, primary eye care acute referral schemes, cataract monitoring, age-related macular degeneration review and low vision services. The Local Optometry Council Support Unit (LOCSU) provides accredited pathways and support for members and Commissioners to deliver services in the Community. Moving some pathways out of secondary care is also supported by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Association of Optometrists and College of Optometrists. The service should enable the delivery of: * Responsive and patient centred care; * High quality and safe care; * Services which enable patients to choose a location convenient to them * A service within the principles of no delays and 18 week referral to treatment standards.
