Notice Title
Hinkley Point A Wireless Fire Detection System
Notice Description
Hinkley Point A currently have an overlay wireless fire detection and alarm system based on an EMS 5000 system (a fire detection system manufactured by EMS Security Group Ltd) which has been in place for approximately 15 years. This system, together with a number of smaller wired and wireless EMS Firecell systems provides the site with fire detection, fire alarms and other features such as call points, door actuation and alarms to the site alarm system known as the Plant Status Monitoring System, (PSMS). Both the EMS 5000 wireless and many of the hardwired systems have now become obsolete. Therefore a need has been identified for a site wide replacement fire detection and alarm system that can cater for the ongoing changing environment of a decommissioning site in a cost-effective and flexible manner and with minimal disruption to site operations. The work comprises the replacement of all fire detection systems on site with a new fully integrated wireless fire detection and alarm system. No hardwired systems shall be retained. Existing EMS 5000 equipment is to be replaced as it is no longer supported. EMS Firecell equipment is also to be replaced. The new system is to be interfaced with the PSMS. The new fire detection and alarm system shall have the capability to be used solely as a standalone wireless solution for the complete site. Tenders for hybrid systems i.e. part hardwired and part wireless will not be considered due to site constraints.
