Summary of the contracting process

Unite Procurement UK Limited is procuring Mammut Pro 2.0 3L Hooded Jackets on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and associated public sector organisations. This is a goods requirement covering coats and weatherproof clothing for winter training delivery in the United Kingdom. The jackets are intended to replace Mountain Equipment Makalu student winter jackets that were judged unsuitable for winter use; those existing jackets will be repurposed for summer training at both training locations. The required alternative is the Mammut Pro 2.0 3L Hooded Jacket, selected following subject matter expert guidance for its suitability in demanding winter training environments, Gore-Tex protection, durability and fire red colour for student fleet identification.

The procurement has reached tender: the buyer invited suppliers to join the Unite Procurement Platform and submit expressions of interest through a selective catalogue purchase procedure. Multiple suppliers may be onboarded rather than a sole supplier. The tender deadline set by the buyer is 9 September 2026 at 17:00. The contract period is 10 September 2026 to 10 September 2028. The estimated value is between £35,000 and £140,000, inclusive of the stated minimum and maximum, in GBP. Evaluation is based on the proposed product’s suitability for winter training, availability in the full required quantity, fire red colour availability, Gore-Tex protection and durability, and value for money.

This opportunity suits clothing manufacturers, outdoor equipment suppliers, specialist distributors and public-sector supply partners able to provide technical winter jackets at the required scale. Suppliers should have a product range that includes three-layer waterproof or weatherproof garments suitable for demanding training conditions, with durable Gore-Tex protection or an equivalent performance profile. The requirement also favours businesses able to maintain reliable stock availability in the specified fire red colour and support consistent fleet identification. Relevant suppliers should be able to describe any product modification capabilities and maintenance services, as these form part of the requested supplier information. The opportunity is identified as suitable for SMEs and voluntary, community and social enterprises.
