Notice Title
GB-London: Summary of local government standards regimes and possible sanctions
Notice Description
The Local Government Association (LGA) believes the Government is looking at introducing increased sanctions of councillors who breach their code of conduct. The LGA would like to understand better the range of standards regimes and sanctions for councillors and other politicians who exhibit poor behaviour and conduct when in office. The LGA is therefore commissioning some desktop research on the various standards regimes that exist to handle the behaviour and conduct of elected politicians. The project should focus on the structure of the standards regime, the decision-making process, including who has decision-making power, the checks and balances present in the specific system and the sanctions available for poor behaviour and conduct. The aim of the project is to produce a document setting out the various standards regimes, sanctions and some analysis of the pros and cons of each system. The document will be an internal document for use to develop future LGA policy and is not designed for publication. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
