Summary of the contracting process

The Eastern Cheshire Community Stroke Rehabilitation contract, initiated by Arden & GEM CSU, is currently in the planning stage. This procurement focuses on health and social work services, with its primary aim to commission an Integrated Community Stroke Rehabilitation Service for the Eastern Cheshire region. Key dates include an engagement event scheduled for 30th August 2018, which will take place at New Alderley House, Macclesfield, SK10 3BL. Interested parties must confirm attendance with Cheryl Cooper by the event's cutoff date.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in healthcare services, particularly those specialising in rehabilitation and community health. Organisations aiming to support timely hospital discharges and enhance the well-being of stroke survivors would be particularly well-suited to compete. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in integrated care delivery and those with a focus on community-based services should consider this opportunity as a pathway to contribute effectively to the local healthcare landscape and potentially expand their service offerings.

Notice Title

Eastern Cheshire Community Stroke Rehabilitation

Notice Description

Eastern Cheshire CCG are holding a bidder engagement event on 30th August 2018 at 9am, New Alderley House, Macclesfield, SK10 3BL. Please contact Cheryl Cooper to confirm your attendance. Stroke has a devastating and lasting impact on people's lives and on the nation's health and economy. Over 152,000 people have a stroke in the UK every year and there are 1.2 million stroke survivors. Stroke is one of the top four causes of death and one of the largest causes of adult disability In 2016/17 a total of 308 people living in Eastern Cheshire were diagnosed with a stroke at one of our commissioned acute service providers, and of these 246 people survived. There is estimated to be another 50 people from Eastern Cheshire per year who present elsewhere who have a confirmed stroke diagnosis. In March 2015 acute stroke services in Greater Manchester were centralised, and at the same time East Cheshire NHS Trust signalled that they were to close the stroke unit initially for hyper acute care (the initial 24-72 hours) and thereafter the acute inpatient care which included inpatient rehabilitation By 1st October 2016 Eastern Cheshire CCG had transferred all acute stroke inpatient services to Stepping Hill Hospital (SHH) in Stockport, and University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM) in Staffordshire North Midlands. During the hours of 11pm and 7am people are taken to Salford Royal Hospital (SRH) and then transferred to Stockport once stable. This centralisation has led to significant improvements with patients now receiving 'A' rated score for level of service (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP). To further improve the outcomes and experience of people who survive a stroke, Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (ECCCG) is looking to commission an Integrated Community Stroke Rehabilitation Service (ICSRS) for the people of Eastern Cheshire which will not only support more timely discharge from hospital but will provide care closer to home, which addresses the physical, psychological and social wellbeing needs of people.
