Summary of the contracting process

Plymouth City Council is initiating a procurement process for the "Foot Passenger Ferry Operation" project, focusing on the transport services industry in the South West region of England. This contract is intended to ensure continuity of service for an established ferry operation, effective from July 2017. The engagement end date for expressions of interest is set for 12:00 (noon) on Monday 17th April 2016. The council is conducting this process with a planning stage milestone in place and a contract value estimated at £2,000,000.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses aiming to expand in the transport services sector, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Companies that specialise in ferry operations or related transport services would be well-suited to compete, especially those capable of accommodating both daily commuters and a growing tourist clientele in the vibrant Plymouth area, which has seen a 40% increase in passenger numbers over the past six years.
