Notice Description

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) seeks to undertake a comprehensive renovation project for the residential property located at 29 Beekman Place in New York City. The primary objective of this project is to transform this historic property into the official residence of the UK's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Built in 1910, the property is a seven-story, one-family townhouse, featuring a cellar and a sub-cellar. While it has recently undergone a white-box renovation, further enhancements are required to meet the quality standards necessary for its intended use. This project also presents an opportunity to design and customize the currently unfinished wet areas to align with the FCDO's preferences and requirements. Main objectives of the project: > Create a new layout for ancillary spaces and all bedrooms. > Design and install a new semi-professional kitchen and a family kitchen/kitchenette within the private quarters. > Integrate a new dumbwaiter to facilitate seamless service between public spaces and back-of-house areas. > Implement new surface finishes and lighting design/fixtures throughout the entire residence, where existing is not suitable. > Design and install new window treatments for the entire residence. > Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance where feasible. Additional information: This notice is being published to advertise a forthcoming early market engagement webinar, which will be held on Tuesday 30 January 2014. The Webinar is scheduled for 9am EST for approximately 1 hour. AtknsRealis (FCDO's Design Consultant Team) will introduce the project requirements. Contractors wishing to attend the forthcoming market engagement event should register their interest by email to jon.meadows@fcdo.gov.uk. You will be sent details of the event and how to join. For the avoidance of doubt, this market approach is not part of a formal procurement process. The FCDO reserves the right to change the process at any stage and to undertake this procurement using alternative routes. Participation or non-participation in this market engagement exercise shall not prevent any supplier participating in the future procurement, nor is it intended that any information supplied as part of this exercise shall place any supplier at an advantage in a procurement process. No formal assessment of capability or down selection of bidders will be carried out in relation to any responses received as a result of this. The requirement will be procured via the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's e-procurement portal: https://fcdo.bravosolution.co.uk. Suppliers, not currently registered on the portal, who are interested in being considered for this opportunity must self-register on the site in order to participate - registration is free and instantaneous.
