Summary of the contracting process

The MHRA Buyer Organisation is initiating a procurement process for an "Automated Ampoule Sealer," aimed at enhancing their laboratory capabilities at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control located in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. This tender, classified under laboratory, optical and precision equipment, is in the planning stage, with a key engagement deadline set for 25th August 2022. The budget for this project is estimated between £60,000 and £80,000 plus VAT, and the open tender is expected to be published between September and October 2022. The successful delivery and installation of the equipment are to be achieved by February 2023.

This procurement presents opportunities for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in laboratory equipment, particularly those with experience in automated systems and compliance with UK and European health and safety standards. Businesses that can offer supportive maintenance services and have a quick response capability will be well-positioned to compete, as significant evaluation weightings will favour those with UK-based support and demonstrable efficiency in servicing needs. The tender criteria highlight a preference for solutions that minimise user intervention while ensuring high operational standards.
