Summary of the contracting process

The University of Newcastle is conducting an open tender for the supply and installation of a microfluidics system with an integrated high-resolution fluorescence microscope, which is intended for modelling microbial biofilms. The contract, valued at £160,000, aims to enhance research capabilities by providing equipment that facilitates the imaging of biofilms in a controlled environment. The tender period is set to conclude on 22 May 2017, with the contract period commencing on 9 June 2017 and running until 9 October 2017. This opportunity is categorised under laboratory and optical precision equipment and is located in the North East of England.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment supply and installation, particularly those with capabilities in high-tech optical systems. Companies equipped to offer training and after-sales support, as outlined in the tender requirements, will be well-positioned to compete. Given the advanced nature of the requested equipment, firms with experience in microfluidics and microscopy technologies are especially suited for participation, which could facilitate growth by establishing long-term partnerships with a leading academic institution.
