Notice Description

Staffordshire County Council (SCC) is inviting providers to express an interest, to commissioners, in delivering a series of training events and associated training materials to enable the provision of travel training to vulnerable adults. The training is intended, and should be designed, to be delivered to volunteer buddies and will follow and include a 'train the trainer' model. The training should ensure, as a minimum, volunteer buddies are then aware of and able to apply/deliver: * Supporting Travel Planning * Travel Skills and Road Safety * Using Different Methods of Transport * Managing Personal Safety in the Community * Considerations for working in a Person-Centred way * Support Planning Skills * Safeguarding * Covid-19 considerations Volunteer buddies will be sourced via a Staffordshire Volunteering Buddying Scheme being piloted by SCC and delivered by Support Staffordshire (who provide support to the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector), in the districts of Staffordshire Moorlands, Lichfield and South Staffordshire. It is anticipated that training will initially be required for approximately 15 volunteers, with approximately 5 of those then requiring further 'train the trainer' training. These are currently just approximate numbers that will be finalised at a later date. The scheme is aimed at providing temporary support to help local vulnerable adults to feel less lonely and socially isolated and increase their confidence and skills to access community activities, social care services and employment/volunteering opportunities. The vulnerable adults requiring support may have an assessed social care need (for example, an assessed eligible need for transport) and may include individuals with a learning disability, autism or other neurodiversity, or mental health need. The maximum budget available, to include all training requirements, materials and associated costs is PS15,000. Expressions of interest should be returned, by email, to richard.deacon@staffordshire.gov.uk by 21 December 2022 and upon receipt, providers will be provided with a copy of a more detailed specification and a quotation template to complete and return by 11 January 2023
