Summary of the contracting process

The Bradford Metropolitan District Council is seeking contractors for the "Drain and Gully Clearance 2019" project, classified under the ground-drainage work industry. This open procurement process involves a contract valued at £800,000 and covers work necessary for cleaning, repairing, and maintaining various drains and gullies in the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The tender period has now concluded, having ended on 4 December 2019, and the contract is set to commence on 3 January 2020, lasting until 2 January 2024. Interested businesses could access full details of requirements through the Council's e-tendering platform, YORtender.

This tender presents valuable opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with relevant experience in drainage work, especially those skilled in using high-volume jet vac equipment. Companies involved in ground-drainage services, maintenance, and related surface works are particularly well-suited to compete. Given the variable volume of work primarily driven by environmental factors, potential suppliers should be prepared for flexibility and adaptation in their service delivery to meet the demands of the Council.

Notice Title

Drain and Gully Clearance 2019

Notice Description

Bradford Metropolitan District Council has a statutory responsibility to keep the highways clear. As part of this work there is a requirement to clean, repair and maintain various drains and gullies. Please note that the Council has two main depots responsible for this work in the area, one in Bradford and one at Keighley. Orders for work could come from either of these depots. The volume of work cannot be guaranteed as it can result from adverse weather conditions and accidental damage as well as normal wear and tear. In the last 12 months there have been 75 days of drainage work. Of these the majority (approximately 85%) are for work using the larger Jet Vac appliance. The Council requires a contractor who has experience of cleaning / clearing, repairing and maintaining drains and gullies. The supplier must have experience in using a high volume jet vac combination unit and a jetting machine / van jetter. Bidders should note that whilst both types of machine are used the majority of the work involves the use of the larger Jet Vac appliance. Please see the documents on the Council's e tendering website YORtender (www.yortender.co.uk) under reference DN444152 for full details of the requirement and of how to apply.
