Summary of the contracting process

The Department for International Trade (DIT), acting on behalf of UK Export Finance (UKEF), is planning to establish a General Aerospace Legal Panel (GALP) to procure external legal counsel services related to financial support for the aerospace and defence sectors. This tender is categorised under legal services and is valued at £25 million. The procurement process is currently in the Planning stage, with market engagement set for February 2021. Interested suppliers must express their interest by emailing galp@trade.gov.uk by 4th February 2021, providing their organisation's name, contact details, and base location in London, UK. A future notice is expected to be released on 15th May 2021, as this procurement adheres to the General Procurement Agreement (GPA) regulations.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in legal advisory and representation services, particularly those with expertise in aviation finance and export credit agency financing. Companies that offer legal services related to aviation-related transactions, dispute resolution, and international law would be particularly well-suited to compete for a spot on the panel. Engaging in this process not only allows firms to expand their portfolio by collaborating with UKEF but also positions them to support major financial operations involving notable aircraft manufacturers. This initiative highlights the need for legal counsel with international reach and knowledge of regulations impacting the aerospace and defence industry.
