Summary of the contracting process

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is seeking tenders for the provision of Forensic and Non-Forensic Pathology and Mortuary Services across Scotland, including its islands. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically related to pathology services (CPV code 85111800). The initiative is in the tender stage, with a revised deadline for submissions set for 5th May 2021. This procurement is essential as the current contracts are due to expire later that year, necessitating new arrangements to support the investigation of sudden or suspicious deaths in Scotland.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the healthcare and forensic services sectors, particularly those specialising in pathology and mortuary services. Companies with capabilities in providing post-mortem examinations and related services will be well-placed to compete for this contract, aimed at supporting the critical functions of the Procurator Fiscal. Particularly, organisations with expertise in handling sensitive operations and compliance with legal standards in forensic investigations will find this procurement advantageous for business growth.
