Summary of the contracting process

The Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is currently inviting tenders for the engagement of Structural/Civil Engineering Consultants to provide consultative engineering and construction services. This tender focuses on the design and management of structural repairs, alterations, and marine engineering works for an iconic Grade 2 Listed Building. The procurement is at the planning stage, with a submission deadline set for 12 March 2021. Interested businesses can target one or more of the four specific lots, which include roles such as Principal Designer for Engineering Design. The anticipated contract period lasts for up to four years, with an option for renewal in 12-month increments.

This opportunity presents significant potential for growth, especially for firms specialising in marine engineering, structural and civil engineering, and consultancy services for heritage buildings. Businesses with expertise in obtaining necessary planning permissions, building control approvals, and conducting structural condition surveys will be well-positioned to compete. Given the complexity of the requirements, qualified suppliers with a track record in these areas are encouraged to participate in the tendering process, leveraging the chance to collaborate on an important conservation project.
