Summary of the contracting process

The Wokingham Borough Council is planning a tender for a contract titled "Semi-independent Living accommodation for Care Leavers" within the health and social work services sector. This procurement process, characterised as a tender initiation, seeks to provide accommodation support for care leavers aged 16 to 21 years. The project aims to address the current shortage of suitable placements in the Wokingham area and is projected to have a contract value of £650,000, anticipated to span two years with a possible one-year extension. Key dates include a Market Discovery workshop on 24th February 2021, with a future notice expected on 15th March 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for service providers specialising in accommodation and support services for young people, particularly those with experience in working with care leavers. Businesses that can deliver a high-quality, person-centred service with qualified staff and a commitment to helping young people transition into independent living would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The emphasis on providing 24/7 support and creating a proactive environment for care leavers indicates a robust need for companies that can meet these requirements and demonstrate innovative approaches in their service delivery.

Lot Information

Lot 1

In Wokingham our vision is that young people will leave care as resilient, self-sufficient, aspirational individuals, equipped with the skills to achieve long term successful independence. Currently there is difficulty finding suitable placements for our care leavers who require semi-independent accommodation. It is a struggle to find provision within the borough, that meets quality standards and that represents value for money. In order to breach this deficit, we are developing a new semi-independent living housing scheme within the borough of Wokingham which is due to open in the Summer of 2021. We are therefore seeking a provider to deliver 24/7 support at the service. There will be a Market Discovery workshop online on Wednesday 24th February from 10am - 11am. Organisations wishing to participate in this event should contact us no later than Monday 22nd February 2021
