Summary of the contracting process

The "Research and Insights RM6126" procurement, managed by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in London, has reached the Award stage. This contract, part of a broader effort under the CPV category 73200000 for Research and Development consultancy services, targets economic research services with a focus on econometric and quantitative research projects. It supports the monitoring and evaluation of free trade agreements using extensive post-entry data over a five-year period. The procurement process employed a restricted procedure, ensuring selective invitation to vendors, supported by a selective procurement method. The successful outcome of this ITT process was formalised through a contract signed on 4th June 2026. Used by the Department for Business and Trade as both a buyer and central purchasing body, the procurement process complies with the rules set under the CELEX scheme, as referenced by legal basis ID 32014L0024. With the successful bidder, Frontier Economics, an esteemed supplier, engaged for their expertise in this domain, the contract was valued at £1,200,000 GBP.

This tender encompasses significant business growth opportunities, particularly for enterprises excelling in research services, given the five-year data evaluation timeframe. Suitably positioned companies can harness this contract to showcase capabilities in complex data analysis and policy impact studies. Suppliers adept in econometric analysis, keen on building upon this sector's momentum, stand ready to leverage the mutual value offered via this contract. Such insights are highly relevant to entities aligned with providing evidence-based recommendations to public sector bodies, exemplifying the progressive business climate within the UK’s data evaluation and trade policy ecosystem. As the project unfolds, it promises to deepen commercial interfaces for suppliers and enhance understanding and standards in trade agreements through rigorous economic research.
