The contracts were awarded with a value of £2,329,400 for Lot 1 and £492,670 for Lot 2, and they are expected to commence on 1st October 2021, lasting for an initial three-year term with possible extensions. This tender presents substantial opportunities for service providers specialising in health and social care, particularly those with expertise in supported living and peer support services. Businesses operating in the fields of disability support, residential care services, and community health initiatives, particularly those experienced in delivering care to vulnerable populations, would be ideally suited to compete for these contracts. The expansion of services in Rotherham to support individuals with learning disabilities or autism creates a chance for companies to grow their client base while contributing to enhanced community welfare.

Lot Information

Lot 1 - Supported Living Service

The service provides 24/7 care and support to 6 individuals within a specific property at Cherry Tree House. The property is 6-bedroom, ground floor accommodation and is situated in Masborough. The property is owned and managed by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. The scheme is currently fully occupied, the ages of the tenants is between 23 and 76. The tenants have multiple profound disabilities

Lot 2 - Peer Support Networks

The service provides low level support to maintain and increase independence for people, with a Learning Disability and/or Autism, who are living in their own accommodation in the community. The service does not provide personal care. The service currently supports around 30 people in 3 distinct areas of Rotherham; Thurcroft, Thrybergh and Kimberworth Park. People live close by, within walking distance of each other, to ensure the feeling of Community is developed. Peer to peer support is an essential part of the offer in addition to the formal support offered through the service. People currently accessing the service may or may not have eligible assessed needs and some have been part of the service for many years. There is a need to expand the current provision across the Borough to increase the availability of this type of low-level support to maintain and increase the independence of people with a Learning Disability and/or Autism living in and moving on to their own accommodation in the community. Consideration will be given to increasing the budget for this service in the future. This would allow for the service to be expanded to support more people.
