Summary of the contracting process

The West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority has completed a procurement process for a "National Framework Agreement for Smoke Alarms" to supply various smoke detection apparatus, categorised under goods, primarily aimed at UK fire and rescue services. The agreement allows fire services across the UK to place direct orders with selected suppliers. The procurement method employed was an open procedure, with the award of contracts confirmed on March 30, 2021, for multiple lots including standalone smoke alarms, hearing impaired alarms, and smart home technologies.

This framework presents considerable growth opportunities for businesses in the safety equipment and technology sectors, particularly those specialising in smoke alarm systems and associated products. Companies capable of supplying high-quality smoke detection solutions, as well as those offering customer support services, could benefit significantly. Larger firms, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), may find competitive advantage by engaging in this procurement process given the diverse product types stipulated within the tender.
