Notice Title

24 Hour Digital Lethality

Notice Description

24 Hour Digital Lethality The aim of this project is to develop a weapon and sight/ fire control system for the next Close Combat rifle to replace the in-service SA80. This PIN relates to the sight/ fire control element of the system and not the weapon. The sight/ fire control system should be able to increase the probability of an incapacitating hit on a protected target at various ranges during daytime as the threshold and at night and in inclement weather as the objective requirement. This system should significantly reduce the cognitive burden on the operator and potentially be able to be retrofitted to the existing SA80. Ideally, the system will work in all environments that the current Lightweight Day Sight does. We expect the system to already be under development, with a physical demonstration being requested in May/Jun 2021. At this initial stage, we accept the sighting system may be integrated with a demonstration weapon platform provided by the supplier
